GILGIT: Awami action committee chairman Maulana Sultan Raees met PPP Gilgit-Baltistan chief Amjad Hussain and senior leader Jamil Ahmed to discuss the May 1 protest plan of the committee. Maulana Raees told the PPP leaders that the action committee had given the deadline to the government to clarify its position on the issues of CPEC and occupation of land under the khalsa sarkar. The PPP leaders on the occasion assured the action committee that the party would stand by the committee to force the rulers to stop violating the people’s rights. They said that on May 1a decisive movement would be launched that would end either in the dismissal of the government or the acceptance of the charters of demands of the action committee. They said that after the recent rain, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan were mired in crises but the rulers were in deep slumber and spending public resources on their luxuries while sitting in Islamabad without damn caring for the suffering of the mass. -
